Washing machine Power consumption formula:

A washing machine is another house hole electrical equipment used for washing the clothes. Washing machine power consumption in kWh is equal to the product of the wattage and the operating hours divided by 1000. The formula can be written as,

kWh = Wattage x operating hour / 1000.

For calculating monthly consumption is equal to the 30 times of daily consumption.

kWh Monthly = 30 x Wattage x operating hour / 1000.

For yearly consumption is equal to the 365 times of the daily consumption.

kWh Monthly = 365 x Wattage x operating hour / 1000.

In case if you operate a washing machine based on minutes means, the power consumption formula will be changed,

kWh = Wattage x operating minutes / 60,000

The washing machine power consumption is equal to the operating minutes times of the wattage divided by 60000.

Washing Machine Power Saving Tips:

A washing machine is a technology used for washing clothes and it contributes almost 10% of your electricity consumption. However, you can save electricity consumption by following the below mentioned.

  1. Avoid water extraction by washing machine: By that way, you can reduce almost 50% of your electricity. After completion of washing, just take the clothes from the machine spin it by yourself and put them in sun sight.
  2. Never use hot water for washing your clothes, since hot water takes much longer cycle for washing your clothes. According to BEE, higher washing time causes higher electricity consumption.
  3. Buy 5-star rating washing machine, for example, 5 stars LG 7 KG front load consumes 0.09 kWh per cycle but the same 7kG LG 4-star washing machine consumes 0.105 kWh per cycle. Almost you get 15% of energy saving by buying a 5-star washing machine.
  4. The number of cycle increases the power consumption hence avoid more number of cycle.
  5. Do not run the machine under load, wait to get full load the machine. (Run your machine on the shortest cycle).
  6. Switch off the Machine: The machine consumes 5 to 10 watts during offline, hence unplug the machine after completion of cloth washing.
