Punjab electricity tariff rate for 2020-21

PUNJAB STATE ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMMISSION has six tariff categories for domestic LT supply. They are, up to 2kW connected load LT consumer, From 2 KW to 7kW connected consumers, more than 7kW and below 50kW connected load consumers, Above 50 kW/kVA & up to 100 kVA consumers, above 100kVA and Sri Harmandir Sahib & Sri Durgiana Mandir consumers.

Electricity unit rate in Punjab Latest 2020-21:

Panjab electricity per unit cost for the first three categories is the same. I.e The consumers’ total connected load is less than 2000 Watts, they will come into the 2kW category. They should not have any electronics’ load such as Air conditioners, refrigerator, bore well etc.

They shall pay ₹ 4.49 for the first 0 to 100 units, and for 101 to 300 units they shall pay ₹ 6.34 per unit and for above 300 units, they have to pay ₹ 7.3 per unit. The same tariff rate applicable to all domestic residential consumer.

Only the fixed cost will be varied such as up to 20 kW consumer can pay ₹ 35/kW, up to 7kW consumer shall pay ₹ 60/kW, up to 50kW consumer shall pay ₹ 75/- as so on.

PSPCL bill calculation:

Example:

A consumer’s connected load is 6kW and their energy consumption is 358 units. Calculate the electricity bill as per Punjab electricity tariff order 2020-21.

Look at the bill for first 100 units, the amount is ₹ 449/- (100 x 4.49), next 200 units it is ₹ 1268 /- and next 58 units it is 423.4/- (58 x 7.3) and additional cost of duty charges 35.8/- (358 x 0.1), fixed charges 270/- (6kW x 35) and electricity tax 318 (13% of (energy charges + duty + fixed charges)

Hence, The consumer should pay 2764.206/- as electricity bill.
