True Velocity Calculator:
Enter the values of x-component of velocity X1+X2(m/s) & y-component of velocity Y1+Y2(m/s) to determine the value of True Velocity Tv(m/s).
True Velocity Formula:
The True Velocity Tv(m/s) in meter per second is equal to the SQRT of the x-component of velocity X1+X2(m/s) in meter per second is squared to Addition of the y-component of velocity Y1+Y2(m/s) in meter per second is squared.
The Formula of True Velocity can be writtern as,
Tv(m/s) = SQRT ( ( X1+X2(m/s) )2 + ( Y1+Y2(m/s) )2 )
Here,
Tv(m/s) = True Velocity in meter per second
X1+X2(m/s) = x-component of velocity in meter per second
Y1+Y2(m/s) = y-component of velocity in meter per second is squared
Example Problems for True Velocity:
1)Calculate the True Velocity and given for x-component of velocity = 40m/s & 50m/s , y-component of velocity = 20m/s & 30m/s.
Solution
Tv = SQRT ( (X1+X2)2 + (Y1+Y2)2 )
Tv = √ ( ( 40+50)2 + ( 20+30)2 )
Tv = 102.95m/s.
2)Calculate the y-component of velocity and given for x-component of velocity = 40m/s & 50m/s , True Velocity = 102.95m/s.
Solution
Tv = SQRT ( (X1+X2)2 + (Y1+Y2)2 )
Tv = √ ( ( 40+50)2 + ( Y1+Y2)2 )
Y1 = 20m/s.
Y2 = 30m/s.
