Pressure Gradient Force Formula:

The pressure gradient force F_(lb-f) in lb-f is equal to the internal pressure IP_(psi) in Pounds per square inch to subtracted by the external pressure EP_(psi) Pounds per square inch and multiply the surface area A_(inches²₎ in inches square.

The formula for pressure gradient force can be writtern as,

F_(lb-f)  =  | IP_{(psi) –}  EP_(psi)  | *  A_(inches²₎

Here,

F_(lb-f)  =  pressure gradient force in lb-f

IP_(psi)  = internal pressure in Pounds per square inch

EP_(psi)  = external pressure in  Pounds per square inch

A_(inches²₎ = surface area in inches square

To find the pressure gradient force and internal pressure 45psi and external pressure 20psi and surface area 5inches².

Answer

F = |IP – EP| * A

F = | 45 – 20 | * 5

F = 125N.
