Output Force Calculator
Enter the values of input force, IF(N) and mechanical advantage, MA to determine the value of output Force, OF(N).
Output Force Formula
Output Force (OF) is the force generated by a machine or system as a result of an input force and the mechanical advantage of the system.
Output Force, OF(kN) in Newtons is calculated by multiplying the input force, IF(N) in Newtons, with the mechanical advantage, MA (dimensionless).
Output Force, OF(N) = IF(N) * MA
OF(N) = output force in Newtons, N.
IF(N) = input force in Newtons, N.
MA = mechanical advantage.
Output Force Calculation:
- A lever is used to lift a heavy rock. An input force of 50 Newtons is applied. If the mechanical advantage of the lever is 5, calculate the output force exerted to lift the rock.
Given: IF(N) = 50N, MA = 5.
Output Force, OF(N) = IF(N) * MA
OF(N) = 50 * 5
OF(N) = 250N.
- Suppose a system exerts an output force of 600 Newtons when an input force of 75 Newtons is applied.
Given: IF(N) = 75N, OF(N) = 600N.
Output Force, OF(N) = IF(N) * MA
MA = OF(N) / IF(N)
MA = 600 / 75
MA = 8.
