Inelastic Collision Velocity Calculator:
Enter the values of Mass of the Object1 M1(kg), Mass of the Object2 M2(kg), Velocity of the Object1 V1(m/s) & Velocity of the Object2 V2(m/s) to determine the value of Inelastic Collision Velocity V(m/s).
Inelastic Collision Velocity Formula:
The Inelastic Collision Velocity V(m/s) in meter per second is equal to the Mass of the Object1 M1(kg) in kilogram into multiply Velocity of the Object1 V1(m/s) in meter per second Addition of Mass of the Object2 M2(kg) in kilogram into multiply Velocity of the Object2 V2(m/s) in meter per second and then Divided by the Mass of the Object1 M1(kg) in kilogram to addition of Mass of the Object2 M2(kg) in kilogram.
The Formula of Inelastic Collision Velocity can be writtern as,
V(m/s) = ( M1(kg) * V1(m/s) + M2(kg) * V2(m/s) ) / ( M1(kg) + M2(kg) )
Here,
V(m/s) = Inelastic Collision Velocity in meter per second
M1(kg) = Mass of the Object1 in kilogram
M2(kg) = Mass of the Object2 in kilogram
V1(m/s) = Velocity of the Object1 in meter per second
V2(m/s) = Velocity of the Object2 in meter per second
Inelastic Collision Velocity Calculation :
1)Calculate the Inelastic Collision Velocity and given for Mass of the Object1&2 = 20kg & 40kg , Velocity of the Object1&2 = 50m/s & 60m/s.
Answer
V = ( M1 * V1 + M2 * V2 ) / ( M1 + M2 )
V = ( 20 * 50 + 40 * 60 ) / ( 20 + 40 )
V = 56.66m/s.
2)Calculate the Velocity of the Object2 and given for Mass of the Object1&2 = 20kg & 40kg , Velocity of the Object1 = 50m/s , Inelastic Collision Velocity = 56.66m/s.
Answer
V = ( M1 * V1 + M2 * V2 ) / ( M1 + M2 )
56.66 = ( 20 * 50 + 40 * V2 ) / ( 20 + 40 )
V2 = 60m/s.
