Hp to kVA Conversion Formula:
Hp is the unit of active power and kVA is the unit of apparent power. Apparent power S(kVA) is equal to the 0.746 times of P(HP) real power in HP divided by the power factor. For converting HP to kVA use the below-mentioned formula.
S(kVA) = 0.746 x P(HP) / pf.
Apparent power kilo Volt Amp = 0.746 x HP / pf
Example:
Calculate the apparent power in kVA of the 10 HP motor is having rated power factor of 0.86.
S(kVA) = 0.746 x 10 / 0.86 = 8.67 kVA
Hence 10 HP motor delivers 8.67 kVA apparent power at 0.86 power factor.
