Erosional Velocity Calculator:
Enter the values of Empirical constant C(lb/s/ft2) & Gas Density p(lb/ft3) to determine the value of Erosional Velocity EV(ft/s).
Erosional Velocity Formula:
The Erosional Velocity EV(ft/s) in feet per second is equal to the Empirical constant C(lb/s/ft2) in lb per second per feet square is Divided by the SQRT of the Gas Density p(lb/ft3) in lb per feet cube.
The Formula of Erosional Velocity can be writtern as,
EV(ft/s) = C(lb/s/ft2) / SQRT ( p(lb/ft3) )
Here,
EV(ft/s) = Erosional Velocity in feet per second
C(lb/s/ft2) = Empirical constant in lb per second per feet square
p(lb/ft3) = Gas Density in lb per feet cube
Example Problems for Erosional Velocity:
1)Calculate the Erosional Velocity and given for Empirical constant = 125lb/s/ft2 , Gas Density = 25lb/ft3.
Answer
EV = C / √ ( p )
EV = 125 / √ ( 25 )
EV = 25ft/s.
2)Calculate the Gas Density and given for Empirical constant = 125lb/s/ft2 , Erosional Velocity = 25ft/s.
Answer
EV = C / √ ( p )
25 = 125 / √ ( p )
p = 25lb/ft3.
