Compressed Air Velocity Calculator:
Enter the values of Air flow rate Q(ft3/m) & Diameter of the pipe d(inches) to determine the value of Compressed Air Velocity Vca(ft/s).
Compressed Air Velocity Formula:
The Compressed Air Velocity Vca(ft/s) in feet per second is equal to the Air flow rate Q(ft3/m) in feet cube per minute is Divided by the value of 60 and multiply the 3.141 value and again multiply the Diameter of the pipe d(inches) in inches divided by the value of 24 for squared.
The Equation of Compressed Air Velocity can be writtern as,
Vca(ft/s) = Q(ft3/m) / ( 60 * pi * ( d(inches) /24 )2 )
Here,
Vca(ft/s) = Compressed Air Velocity in feet per second
Q(ft3/m) = Air flow rate in feet cube per minute
d(inches) = Diameter of the pipe in inches
Example Problems for Compressed Air Velocity:
1)Calculate the Compressed Air Velocity and given for Air flow rate = 250ft3/s , Diameter of the pipe = 4inches.
Answer
Vca = Q / ( 60 * pi * ( d / 24 )2 )
Vca = 250 / ( 60 * 3.141 * ( 4 / 24 )2 )
Vca = 47.75ft/s.
2)Calculate the Diameter of the pipe and given for Air flow rate = 250ft3/s , Compressed Air Velocity = 47.75ft/s.
Answer
Vca = Q / ( 60 * pi * ( d / 24 )2 )
47.75 = 250 / ( 60 * 3.141 * ( d / 24 )2 )
d = 4inches.
