Coefficient of Velocity Formula:

The Coefficient of Velocity Cv(m/s) in meter per second is equal to the SQRT of the Horizondal distance x(ft) in feet is squared is Divided by the value of 4 into multiply the Vertical Distance y(ft) in feet and again multiply the Head of Water h(ft) in feet.

The Formula of Coefficient of Velocity can be writtern as,

Cv(m/s) = SQRT ( x2(ft) / ( 4 * y(ft) * h(ft) ) )

Here,

Cv(m/s) = Coefficient of Velocity in meter per second

x(ft) = Horizondal distance in feet

y(ft) = Vertical Distance in feet

h(ft) = Head of Water in feet

Cv = √( x2 / ( 4 * y * h ) )

2)Determine the Head of Water and given for Horizondal distance = 4ft , Vertical Distance = 3ft , Coefficient of Velocity = 0.516m/s.

Answer

Cv = √( x2 / ( 4 * y * h ) )

0.516 = √ ( 42 / ( 4 * 3 * h ) )

h = 5ft.
