The Braking Acceleration Ab(m/s2) in meter per second square is Equal to the Velocity Before Braking V(m/s) in meter per second is squared and is Divided by the 2 into Multiply the Total Stopping Distance SD(m) in meter.

The Formula of Braking Acceleration can be written as,

Ab(m/s2) = V2(m/s) / ( 2 * SD(m) )

Here,

Ab(m/s2) = Braking Acceleration in meter per second square

V(m/s) = Velocity Before Braking in meter per second

SD(m) = Total Stopping Distance in meter

Braking Acceleration Calculation:

1)Calculate the Braking Acceleration and given for Velocity Before Braking = 180m/s , Total Stopping Distance = 10m.

Answer

Ab = V2 / ( 2 * SD )

Ab = 1802 / ( 2 * 10 )

Ab = 1620m/s2.
