Air Specific Weight Calculator:
Enter the values of air density, AD(kg/m3) and weight density of air, WD(N) to determine the value of Air specific weight, ASP(kg/Nm3).
Air Specific Weight Formula:
Air specific weight, often referred to as the weight density of air, is the weight per unit volume of air. It is a measure of how much weight a given volume of air has.
Air density and therefore specific weight change with temperature and pressure. As temperature increases, air density decreases, leading to a lower specific weight. Conversely, an increase in pressure results in higher air density and specific weight.
The presence of water vapour in the air affects its density. Humid air is less dense than dry air because water vapour is less dense than dry air. This results in a lower specific weight for humid air.
Air specific weight, ASP(kg/Nm3) in kilograms per Newton cubic metres is calculated by dividing the air density, AD(kg/m3) in kilograms per cubic metres by weight density of air, WD(N) in Newtons.
Air specific weight, ASP(kg/Nm3) = AD(kg/m3) / WD(N)
ASP(kg/Nm3) = air specific weight in kilograms per Newton cubic metres, kg/Nm3.
AD(kg/m3) = air density in kilograms per cubic metres, kg/m3.
WD(N) = weight density of air in Newtons, N.
Air Specific Weight Calculation:
- Given the air density as 1.225 kg/m3 and weight density as 9.81 N, calculate the specific weight of air.
Given: AD(kg/m3) = 1.225kg/m3, WD(N) = 9.81N.
Air specific weight, ASP(kg/Nm3) = AD(kg/m3) / WD(N)
ASP(kg/Nm3) = 1.225 / 9.81
ASP(kg/Nm3) = 0.125kg/Nm3.
