Air Enthalpy Formula:

Enthalpy of air is a measure of the total energy content per unit mass of air, combining both the internal energy and the energy required to displace its environment.

As air temperature increases, the air molecules move faster and have more internal energy, resulting in a higher enthalpy (E). Imagine air feeling warmer on a hot day – that’s its increased enthalpy.

Air consists of molecules with internal energy due to their motion. The formula relates this internal energy to the air temperature (T).

The constant 1.007 accounts for the specific heat capacity of air, which is the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 kg of air by 1degree Celsius.

The correction factor (-0.026 kJ/kg) is a small adjustment to align the enthalpy calculation with a specific reference point.

Air enthalpy, E(kJ/kg) in kilojoules per kilograms is calculated by the product of 1.007 and temperature, T(C) in degree Celsius and then subtracted by 0.026.
