Brushless Motor Power Formula:

Brushless motor power (P) refers to the electrical power consumed by a brushless motor to perform mechanical work. It is typically measured in watts (W) and indicates how much electrical energy is converted into mechanical energy.

In brushless motors, the power efficiency is higher compared to brushed motors due to the absence of brushes and commutators, reducing friction and energy losses.

A higher efficiency means more of the input electrical power is converted to mechanical power, with less energy lost as heat.

Electrical energy is supplied to the brushless motor (Pi). The motor’s internal components (permanent magnets and windings) convert this electrical energy into mechanical work (Po) through the principles of electromagnetism. However, some energy is lost as heat due to inherent inefficiencies (represented by 100 – E) within the motor.

Brushless motor power, Pi(W) in watts is calculated by dividing the product of output power, Po(W) in watts and 100 by efficiency, E.

Brushless motor power, Pi(W) = Po(W) * 100 / E.

Pi(W) = input power in watts, W.

Po(W) = output power in watts, W.

E = efficiency.

Brushless Motor Power Calculation:

1. Finding Input Power:

Given:

Output power, Po(W) = 300 W

Efficiency, E = 85%

Brushless motor power, Pi(W) = Po(W) * 100 / E.

Pi(W) = 300 * 100 / 85

Pi(W) = 352.94W.

2. Finding Output Power:

Given:

Input power, Pi(W) = 400 W

Efficiency, E = 90%

Brushless motor power, Pi(W) = Po(W) * 100 / E.

Po(W) = Pi(W) * E / 100

Po(W) = 400 * 90 / 100

Po(W) = 360W.
