Work to Force Calculator:
Enter the values of work, W(J) and distance, d(m) to determine the value of the force, F(N).
Work to Force Formula:
The work to force calculator is designed to find the magnitude of the force applied over a certain distance when work is done.
The force, F(N) in Newton is equated by dividing the work, W(J) in joules by distance, d(m) in metres.
The force, F(N) = W(J) / d(m)
F(N) = force in Newton, N.
W(J) = work in joules, J.
d(m) = distance in metres, m.
Work to Force Calculation:
- If a work of 150 joules is done to push a box across a floor for a distance of 5 metres, find the force exerted.
Given: W(J) = 150J, d(m) = 5m.
The force, F(N) = W(J) / d(m)
F(N) = 150 / 5
F(N) = 30N.
- The example of finding the distance when you know the work done and the force applied. Suppose 300 joules of work is done while applying a constant force of 50 newtons. We want to find the distance over which the force is applied.
Given: W(J) = 300J, F(N) = 50N.
The force, F(N) = W(J) / d(m)
d(m) = W(J) / F(N)
d(m) = 300 / 50
d(m) = 6m.
