Force Calculator:

Enter the values of mass of the object, m(kg) and acceleration of the object, a(m/s2) to determine the value of force applied to the object, F(N).

Enter Mass of the Object: kg
Enter Acceleration of the Object: m/s2

Result – Force Applied to the Object : N

Force Formula:

Force is a vector quantity that describes the interaction between objects that can cause an object to change its motion, including its direction and velocity. It is measured in Newtons (N).

Force applied to the object, F(N) in Newtons is equated by the product of mass of the object, m(kg) in kilograms and acceleration of the object, a(m/s2)  in metre per second squared.

Force applied to the object, F(N) = m(kg) * a(m/s2)

F(N) = force applied to the object in Newton, N.

m(kg) = mass of the object in kilogram, kg.

a(m/s2)  = acceleration of the object in metre per second squared, m/s2.

Force Calculation:

1. A car with a mass of 1200 kg accelerates at a rate of 2m/s2. Calculate the force exerted on the car.

Given: m(kg) = 1200kg, a(m/s2)  = 2m/s2.

Force applied to the object, F(N) = m(kg) * a(m/s2)

F(N) = 1200 * 2

F(N) = 2400N.

2. Suppose a force of 500 Newtons is applied to an object, causing it to accelerate at 10m/s2. Find the mass of the object.

Given: F(N) = 500N, a(m/s2)  = 10m/s2.

Force applied to the object, F(N) = m(kg) * a(m/s2)

m(kg) = F(N) / a(m/s2)

m(kg) = 500 / 10

m(kg) = 50kg.
