Clamping Force Formula:

The clamping force calculator is designed to determine the force exerted by a clamp, essential in various applications such as machining, woodworking, and assembly processes to hold objects securely in place.

Clamping Force, F(N) in Newtons is calculated by dividing the torque applied, T(N.m) in Newton-meters, by the product of the friction coefficient, K and the diameter of the clamping mechanism, D(m) in meters.

Clamping Force, F(N) = T(N.m) / K * D(m)

F(N) = clamping force in Newtons, N.

T(N.m) = torque applied in Newton metre, N.m.

K = friction coefficient.

D(m) = diameter of clamping mechanism in metres, m.

Clamping Force Calculation:

1. Calculate the clamping force generated by applying a torque of 10 N.m with a friction coefficient of 0.2 on a bolt with a diameter of 0.01 m.

Given: T(N.m) = 10N.m, K = 0.2, D(m) = 0.01m.

Clamping Force, F(N) = T(N.m) / K * D(m)

F(N) = 10 / 0.2 * 0.01

F(N) = 5000N.

2. Calculate the torque required to achieve a clamping force of 8000 N, using a bolt with a diameter of 0.025 m and a friction coefficient of 0.3.

Given: F(N) = 8000N, K = 0.3, D(m) = 0.025m.

Clamping Force, F(N) = T(N.m) / K * D(m)

T(N.m) = F(N) * K * D(m)

T(N.m) = 8000 * 0.3 * 0.025

T(N.m) = 6N.m.
