Electrical Contractors License, Rajasthan – Everything you Need to Know
State electricity is taken care of by the Department of Energy, Government of Rajasthan. All the electrical works like the installation and charging of transformers, D.G Sets and transmission lines are done by them.
An electrical contractor may be one who does all the above said works under the permission of the government. For this, you wish to have a contractor’s license issued by the Electrical Inspector. The issuance of the licenses is taken care of by the assistance of the Electrical Inspectorate Department (EID).
Who is Eligible for the Electrical Contractor’s License?
There are various classes of contractor’s license depending upon your experience and eligibility. Let us see what they are.
Class A
- Any person or a legal firm (either a partnership or a proprietorship) or a private or public limited company should have 3 years of experience either as a Class B or Class C contractor. They should have implemented a minimum of 10 HT installations.
(or)
Any person or owner of the firm should be an engineer with 5 years of experience in the electrical operation and maintenance field.
(or)
Other state electrical contractors with a license should have a minimum of three years of experience in electrical work (voltage level above 33KV) and have implemented a minimum of 10 HT installations.
- Should have at least two supervisors ( both Class A or one Class A and one Class B) and at least four wiremen should have a permit / competency certificate to work.
- Can take up all the voltage level classes.
Class B
- Any person or a legal firm ( either a partnership or a proprietorship) or any private or public company having a license issued by any other state.
- Should have at least one supervisor ( either Class A or Class B) and at least two wiremen with a permit / certificate to work.
- Can work up to 33KV.
Class C
This Class Contractor license is applicable for people who stay in Rajasthan Only.
- Any person who is an engineer ( degree or diploma holder in Electrical Engineering) and is unemployed.
(or)
- Class A Supervisor.
- Should have at least one supervisor(Class A or Class B) and at least one wireman with a permit to work.
- Can work up to 33KV.
Class D
- Any person who has a certificate / permit as a supervisor or wireman issued by the office of the Senior Electrical Inspector (HoD)
- Can work for house and agricultural wiring work for up to 650 volts.
Tools and Appliances
The applicants for the Electrical Contractors license should have all the mandatory tools and equipment ready while applying and submit them when asked for inspection.
- Crimping tool, Cable Jointing facilities,Safety belt and portable heavy duty drill,Earth Chain and Insulated tools.(Tools for wiring and repairs)
- Instruments to carry out all the resistance and load tests of electrical installations.
- Insulation Megger ( 500V,1000V,5000V)
- Earth Tester with Testing kit -0/10/100 ohms with a selector switch
- Tong Tester with an Ammeter( 0/800A) and a voltmeter (0/300V/600V)
Required Documents
Below is the list of all the necessary documents, presented in a scanned format before starting the process.
- Recent passport size photograph
- Digital Signature
- Solvency Certificate
- Letters from supervisors and wiremen with their signatures willing to work with you
- Proof stating that you have all the tools and equipment in working condition.
- Address proof ( PAN card, Aadhar Card)
- Date of Birth proof
- Registerd partnership deed ( if applicable)
- Work experience certificate
- Exisiting Work Permits
- Medical Certificate
SSO Rajsthan – Create a SSO ID
You should register on the web portal https://sso.rajasthan.gov.in/signin, which acts as an identity for all applications you can apply for.
- Visit the site by clicking on the link above and go to the registration tab.
- Now, register using your Google ID and password by clicking on the Google registration.
- You will get a link to your Google ID. Click on that link to validate your email.
- Finally, create a password
Application Process
- Go to the web portal using the link https://sso.rajasthan.gov.in/signin
- Login with your SSO ID and password that you created above.
- Scroll down and click on the EID icon
- On the appearing screen with the role description,enter the details and the class of contractor’s license you are applying for. Select “YES” or “NO” and click on Submit.
- Next, a page will open where you can see the title you applied for. Click on “Manage Application”.
- Enter all the details and information asked, like your personal details, experience, and medical history
- Next, attach all the scanned documents in the documents section.
- Finally, click on Submit.
- If any errors are present in the application, you need to change them accordingly.
- Once the application is correct, you will be directed to the payment gateway.
- Pay the stated amount through e-payment.
- You will get the license in a time span of 7 days,once the application is verified through scrutiny.
Validity of the License
The license obtained is valid until the license holder attains the age of 65 years.
