Watts to kVA Conversion Calculator | Convert W to kVA

Watts to kVA Conversion Calculator Convert W to kVA:

Enter watts: W
Enter power factor:

Result in kilovolt-amps: kVA

For Converting Watt to kVA, you need to enter the power factor and real power at the below calculator. Then press calculates button to receive the answer immediately.

kVA is nothing but a watt divided by 1000 times of power factor. Hence the formula can be written as

kVA = W / (1000 * pf)

Apparent power in kVA = Real power in watts / (1000 x Power Factor)

S(kVA) = P(W) / (1000 × PF)

Example:

Calculate the kVA rating of the 25000 Watts transformer whose operating power factor of 0.95 Lagging.

Apply our formula,

S(kVA) = 25000 / 0.95

Apparent power = 26.31 kVA

Note that the kVA is purely depending on the watts and power factor. When the power factor is less, the kVA rating will be automatically reduced. So the rated capacity of the machine will be reduced. That’s why you have to maintain almost unity power factor get higher efficiency from the equipment.
