What is Ampere

What is Ampere?

A unit of current is called Ampere. The name ampere has come from Mr Andre-Marie Ampere. The one column of electric charge flow in a unit of time is called one Ampere.

1 A = 1 C/s

Also, It can be defined as a flow of one-ampere current through the one-ohm resistance with the potential difference of one volt is called one Ampere.

1 A = 1 V/R

It is also called Amps which is the short form of the Ampere

Ammeter

The equipment which is used to measure the electric current is called Ampere meter or Ammeter. It should be connected in series with the circuit to be measured.

It should not be connected in parallel with the circuit. If you connect them in parallel, the ammeter will be damaged. Since ammeter is a low resistance path to the circuit, it acts as a short circuit.

Ampere measurement:

Ampere will be denoted by nA (nano-Amps), μA (micro-Amps), mA (milli-Amps), kA (kilo-Amps), MA (Mega-Amps), GA (Gega-Amps).
