How to Make Electrical Earthing:
Earthing is an important part of the power system. Earthing means creating short circuit path to the source through earth or ground or specified conductor. The fault current flows through the earth, the equipment may get damage during the fault condition if earthing is not present. Let see, earthing procedure…In this, I am going to tell about the earthing procedure for electrical panels. And you can follow the same for your home appliances earthing.[wp_ad_camp_1]
Required Material for electrical earthing:
- River sand – 25Kg, Typically 5 small buckets.
- Salt – 50 Kg
- Charcoal – 15 Kg
- GA Pipe 10 Feet with random 10 mm drilled – 1 number
- Make a pit in the ground – 2 feet length X 2 feet width X 10 feet depth
- Water to fill the pit finally to reduce the earth resistance
GI or Copper busbar or Copper cable – required (from panel to earth pit).
[wp_ad_camp_1]Step1: Make a pit on the ground.
Step2: Put 5 Kg of river sand on the pit and spread it. Make sand bed in the earthing pit.
Step3: Stand the Earthing Pipe in the pit (make it center).
Step4: Spread salt on the around the pipe.
Step5: Next spread charcoal. => River sand
Step6: Repeat the step 4 and 5 until the material exhaust. Once the material exhausted, then fill with the old sand which you removed from the pit.
Step7: Pour the water inside the pipe until the pipe get fill out. That’s all.. you have completed.
Note: The combination can be interchanged.
Checking healthiness of exiting earth pit:
Use earth resistance tester, if the earth resistance value is less than 5 ohms, which is consider as good earthing. Otherwise we have to decrease the earth resistance value.
The value of the earth resistance various power station:
Large Power Station – 0.5 ohms
Major Power Station – 1.0 ohms
Small Substation – 2.0 ohms
In all other cases – 5.0 ohms
